 2-and-a-half-month-old baby succumbs to COVID-19 in Amritsar

AMRITSAR: A two-and-a-half-month old child died due to COVID-19 in Amritsar.

The infant, Aditya, was under treatment at the isolation ward of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GMCH).

GMCH medical superintendent Dr Raman Sharma said that the baby was from Navi Abadi area of the city. He had died on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

As per the state media bulletin, this is the fifth death in the district due to the novel coronavirus.

“Along with the child’s family, the health department also quarantined four doctors of the paediatric ward of GMCH, who treated the child before his death. Their samples will also be sent for testing”, said a GMCH doctor.

Meanwhile, with 23 fresh cases on, the state Covid cases count has risen to 2,028 on Thursday.
