QUEENSLAND: A large-scale police land, water and air search by Queensland Police ended in tragedy after 25-year-old missing Punjabi youth was found dead.
The 25-year-old Sarvjeet Mutti, who disappeared in Brisbane, has been found dead in the Brisbane River.
Sarvjeet Mutti was last seen near a boat ramp at the University of Queensland campus in St Lucia about 9.45 pm on Tuesday.
None of the family or friends heard from since, prompting a search and rescue operation.
Authorities were particularly concerned for the man’s welfare because Sarvjeet’s belongings were found near the boat ramp.
Water police, officers on foot and a police helicopter scoured the area around the boat ramp on Tuesday night and continued on Wednesday.
However, the Punjabi youth’s body was later found and his death was not being treated as suspicious.
According to a news release, Mutti is described as Indian, around 175cm tall with a dark complexion, black hair and a beard. He was possibly wearing a yellow shirt, black pants, a black turban and thongs at the time he went missing.
