All cold stores to be kept opened till 10th April for storing potato crop

S. A. S. Nagar, March 26: It has been brought to the notice of District Administration that the farmers are engaged in digging of potatoes at present. After digging, the process of grading begins and then the crop is stored in various cities and thus the economic interests of a vast section of people are connected with the process.

In view of the above, the District Magistrate Mr. Girish Dayalan has ordered that all the cold stores of the district would be kept opened till 10th April, 2020 for storing potato crop.

However, the owners of the cold stores have to strictly comply with the instructions issued at regular intervals by the Union and Punjab Government besides the office of the District Magistrate and observe social distancing up-to minimum 1.50 – 2 metres. In any case, during the loading, unloading and grading process, more than 10 labourers would not be allowed to gather.

The District Magistrate also ordered that relaxation is also given to farmers to carry their crop to the cold stores. But they would have to carry Id such as voter ID card, Aadhar Card or driving license.
