HOSHIARPUR: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today said that the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra from the Union Ministry was essential for an impartial inquiry into the unfortunate incident involving farmers at Lakhimpur Khiri as his son Involved directly in the event.
After paying obeisance at the nearby Gurudwara Rampur Khera Sahib along with Cabinet Ministers Sangat Singh Giljian and Udevir Singh Randhawa, Randhawa told reporters that the incident at Lakhimpur Khiri was very tragic where the farmers were brutally beaten. He said that it was a great shame that the son of the Minister of State for Home Affairs was involved in the incident which was being strongly condemned all over the country.
He said that it was highly reprehensible that Ajay Mishra had made an irresponsible and controversial statement towards the farmers struggle and farmers just a few days before the incident for which Mishra should have publicly apologized. Randhawa said that in view of an impartial inquiry into the incident, Ajay Mishra should be sacked from the Union Ministry immediately. He said that by settling in Lakhimpur Punjabis have set new horizons in the field of agriculture and at present such torture on farmers is never tolerable.
Regarding the power supply situation in Punjab, Randhawa said that due to non-availability of coal, it was a national problem but at present the Punjab government was meeting the demand of the people by procuring expensive power for the convenience of the consumers. He said that the coal trains were running and the Punjab government was working hard to solve this problem in two-three days. He said that the farmers would be provided all the necessary electricity for irrigating their crops.
Regarding the incidents of indecency, Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that persons wanted in these incidents have been arrested and IG An inquiry is underway led by a senior official. He said that all the culprits of these incidents would be arrested and justice would be done to the Punjabis.
Seeking the cooperation of the people of Punjab, Randhawa said that the Punjab government was fully committed to eradicate all the scourges from the state for which the people should also come forward so that these social evils could be eradicated. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister, Forest and Labor Minister Sangat Singh Giljian, Udevir Singh Randhawa and others paid obeisance at Gurdwara Rampur Khera Sahib. On this occasion Baba Seva Singh Ji conferred titles on the Deputy Chief Minister and Udevir Singh.
