Athletic Meet Formally Inaugurated at PAU

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 13: The 54th Annual Athletic Meet was formally inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. Students of five constituent colleges of PAU, namely College of Agriculture (CoA), College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CoAE&T), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (CoBS&H), College of Community Science (CoCS) and College of Horticulture and Forestry (CoHF) participated in the march past. In addition, students of Institutes of Agriculture (IoA), Gurdaspur and Bathinda, are also participating in various events. The deans, directors, heads of the departments, faculty, staff and students attended the inaugural session.

In his inaugural address, the chief guest Dr Dhillon, Padma Shri Awardee, lauded the energy and enthusiasm of the students for participation in athletic meet. Recollecting the memories of student life at Khalsa College, Amritsar, Dr Dhillon said, “Hard work always pays.” Balance between academics and sports is essential for all-round personality development, he added.

In her welcome remarks, Dr RK Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, said, “Participation in sports and games helps in enhancing the personality of the students.” She exhorted the students to work hard, develop self-confidence and discipline, and bring glory to their alma mater at the national and international levels.
