HOSHIARPUR: A 31-year-old resident of Moranwali village in Hoshiarpur district has tested positive for COVID-19. With this, the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases has reached 31 in the state.
The fresh case is also linked to 70-year-old Baldev Singh of SBS Nagar district, who died of the deadly virus last week.
Punjab Health department said that the close contacts of the fresh case have been put under quarantine and surveillance.
According to the Health Department, at present, there are 130-suspected cases in the state. However, out of 31 confirmed cases, the Nawanshahr man Baldev Singh infected 22.
Moranwali village has already been sealed.
Of the 31 cases, 18 have been reported from Nawanshahr, five from Mohali, three each from Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur, and one each from Amritsar and Ludhiana.
