SRINAGAR: The world must never forget the contributions made to society by Sikhs who stood in the face of adversity and calamity every time. This was stated by Shiromani Akali Dal (United) President and Rajya Sabha Member.
Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Wednesday, while attending the last prayers of school principal Bibi Supinder Kaur who was killed in a terrorist attack at a school in Srinagar last week.
Dhindsa arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday, where he met the family of Bibi Supinder Kaur and expressed his condolences, and assured them of all possible help.
Bibi Supinder Kaur’s last prayers were attended by a large number of people from the Sikh community and from all walks of life. Presenting flowers of devotion to Bibi Supinder Kaur at the gathering, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa lauded the kind-hearted Bibi Supinder Kaur for her tireless work for the betterment of society.
“History has shown that wherever there was any calamity and adversity in the world, Sikhs faced it on their own. However, their contribution to humanity has always been ignored,” Dhindsa rued.
Speaking about Bibi Supinder Kaur, Dhindsa said that she had a large heart towards every strata of every community, having seen and been involved in the sufferings of every section of the society. “Her empathy and sincerity is evident from the fact that she had been paying the education fee of a needy Muslim girl for a long time,” he said.
What could be the enmity of a great personality like Bibi Supinder Kaur who is working for the welfare of humanity, Dhindsa asked and asserted that the world should never forget the contribution made by Sikhs to society.
Dhindsa has offered free accommodation and education by Sant Atar Singh Mastuana Sahib Trust to the children of Bibi Supinder Kaur and other victim families of Kashmir.
