A man, 22, was arrested and is today being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, police said.

Baljinder Kaur’s car was located on its side, stuck between a garden wall and a tree, as well as the twisted wreckage of a yellow Audi on the road by emergency crews.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic attended the scene, along with fire crews and police.

They discovered a red Vauxhall Corsa on its side, wedged between a garden wall and a tree, and the mangled wreckage of a yellow Audi S3 in the road.

Baljinder Kaur, who was driving the Corsa, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the medics.

The Audi driver, who did not need treatment, was detained by officers.

Two passengers in the Audi were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, officers said.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We arrested the 22-year-old Audi driver at the scene and he remains in custody for questioning.

“We’re appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw the yellow Audi S3 driving along The Broadway before the collision, or of it being driven nearby in the build-up.

“And if anyone has CCTV or dash-cam footage that shows the Audi before the collision then we really need them to get in touch.”
