LONDON: Europe on Thursday reported two lakh new coronavirus cases for the first time, according to a Reuters tally.
European countries like Italy, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia reported their highest single-day coronavirus cases on Thursday.
The total number of cases reported daily across Europe has doubled in the past ten days after registering one lakh cases on October 12.
Europe recorded a total of nearly 78 lakh coronavirus cases and about 2.47 lakh deaths, the tally showed.
As a region, Europe is reporting more daily cases than India, Brazil and the United States combined.
Meanwhile, the global infection tally has reached 41,595,980 while 1,135,880 people have died of the disease, according to Johns Hopkins University’s dashboard.
