COLOMBO: A 65-year-old diabetic man is the first man in Sri Lanka to die from coronavirus.
The man died from the deadly viral infection on Saturday, said Director General of the Health Services Anil Jasinghe.
The patient, who had a history of high blood pressure and blood sugar, was being treated at Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Colombo.
According to country’s Health Ministry officials, the patient had contracted the virus from country’s second COVID patient.
The second Coronavirus patient had been in contact with a group of tourists from Italy.
As of Saturday, the island nation reported 115 confirmed coronavirus cases with one death.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka continues to remain under lockdown with a restriction imposed on foreign arrivals to contain the spread of coronavirus.
