BUENOS AIRES: Argentine football legend Diego Maradona passed away aged 60 due to heart attack on Wednesday.
Maradona, who led Argentina to 1986 FIFA World Cup victory, suffered heart attack at his home just two weeks after being discharged from hospital, where he had undergone surgery on a blood clot in his brain.
The Argentine government has declared three days of national mourning to mark the demise of football legend Diego Maradona.
“You took us to the highest point in the world and made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of all. Thank you for having been with us, Diego. We will miss you all our lives,” Argentina President Alberto Fernández tweeted.
Maradona represented Argentina 91 times and scored 34 goals.
