The second largest after China, India sent more than 202,000 students to the US in 2018-19.
Though fewer are flying out now because of unfriendly visa, U.S remains the most popular destination for Indian students.More and more Indian students are going to the United States for high education.
According to a new report, the population of Indian-origin student in the US went up marginally (2.9%) from 1.96 lakh in 2017-18 to 2.02 lakh in 2018-19.
India sent more students to the US in 2018-19 for various levels, including undergraduate, graduate, non-degree and others.
The ‘2019 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange‘ said the number of foreign students in the US set an all-time high in the 2018/19 academic year, the fourth consecutive year with more than one million international students.
As per the data from the US Department of Commerce in 2018-19 China has the largest source of international students in the US with more than 3.5 lakh students for the tenth consecutive year.
The report also suggests that the number of international students enrolled in U.S. universities declined in 2018-19.
