DUBAI: An Indian national in the UAE has been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total confirmed infected cases to eight, said the country’s health ministry.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) on Monday said that the Indian national was infected after he interacted with a recently diagnosed person.
“The Ministry of Health and Prevention announced today the eighth confirmed case of new coronavirus in the UAE, which is an Indian national who had interacted with a recently diagnosed person,” MoHAP said in a tweet.

A family of four, who had arrived from the Chinese city of Wuhan for a holiday in Dubai last week, were infected with the coronavirus.
While a fifth patient, who also arrived from Wuhan, was tested positive for the epidemic but is in stable condition now.
The death toll from coronavirus in China has jumped to 1,016 on Tuesday after China’s Hubei province reported 103 new fatalities.
While the confirmed cases of coronavirus have climbed to 42,638, Chinese health officials said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, two people have died from the epidemic outside the mainland: a man from Wuhan in the Philippines and a 39-year-old man in Hong Kong.
Apart from Britain, Italy and Germany, other European nations with cases of the virus include Spain, Sweden, Russia, France, Belgium and Finland.
