India's COVID-19 tally reaches 78.14 lakh after 53,370 test +ve in 24 hrs

NEW DELHI: The number of coronavirus cases in India has reached 78,14,682 as 53,370 people tested positive in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The coronavirus death toll in the country has risen to 1,17,956, while 70,16,046 coronavirus patients have been discharged.

Out of the total cases, 6,80,680 are active. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country. While 14,45,103 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 43,015 have died so far.

The country’s infection tally had crossed the 20 lakh-mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5. It went past the 50 lakh-mark on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28 and crossed 70 lakh on October 11.
