The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will come out of retirement to face Australian women’s fast bowler Ellyse Perry.
“Hi Sachin, it is awesome to have you out here supporting the Bushfire match,” Ellyse Perry said.
“I know you are coaching one of the teams, but a few of us were sitting around chatting and we thought it would be absolutely amazing if you could come out of retirement for one over in the innings break at Junction Oval,” said Perry.
Not taking much time to respond, Tendulkar accepted the challenge, “Sounds great Ellyse. I would love to go out there & bat an over,” wrote Tendulkar on Twitter.
Sounds great Ellyse. I would love to go out there & bat an over (much against the advice of my doctor due to my shoulder injury). Hope we can generate enough money for this cause, & to get me out there in the middle. Ellyse Perry will bowl an over to Sachin Tendulkar with 10 of her Aussie teammates in the field, reports cricket.com.au.
The face-off is scheduled to take place during the Big Appeal double-header at the Junction Oval in Melbourne on February 9, Sunday.
46-year-old Tendulkar will not be taking part in the Bushfire Bash charity game due to shoulder injury. But, he will coach the Aussie great Ricky Ponting-led side.
