CHANDIGARH: Canada-based Punjabi singer Jazzy B took to Instagram when his Twitter account was blocked in India, to raise his voice in support of ongoing farmers’ protest against contentious farm laws.
View this post on InstagramPunjabi music legends Gurdas Mann and Malkit Singh have also made social media posts praising the farmer community while some upcoming Punjabi singers have also penned songs in favour of the farmers.
Earlier this year, more than 500 accounts were suspended and access to hundreds of others in India blocked after the government ordered Twitter to restrain the spread of misinformation and inflammatory content related to farmers’ protests.
Jazzy B’s account is geo-restricted just in India, which in layman’s language means you won’t be able to see his account only if you’re in the country. For people outside India, the account works normally.
The singer was really active on the micro-blogging site and was sincerely tweeting about the ‘farmers protest’ ever since the farmers started protesting back in December 2020.
