NEW DELHI: Senior Akali leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has resigned as President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). He has also announced not to contest forthcoming polls of office bearers of DSGMC.

Apart from this, Manjinder Singh Sirsa resigned from the Shiromani Akali Dal to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The BJP tweeted a video of his joining the party.

The change of party for Sirsa holds relevance as the Punjab elections are just four months away.
Sirsa fought and won the 2017 assembly elections from Rajouri Garden on a BJP ticket. His former party, the Shiromani Akali Dal, has since broken away from the BJP.
