NIA files chargesheet against Hardeep Nijjar for terror attack conspiracy

New Delhi/Surrey: National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed chargesheet against Hardeep Singh Nijjar in connection with alleged conspiracy to carry out terrorist attacks, the agency said on Thursday.

NIA mentioned sections in the chargesheed are 120-B, 153-B Indian Penal Code and 13, 17, 18, 20, 38 and 40 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act before the NIA Special Court in Delhi against the accused Nijjar, who is originally a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab and presently residing in Surrey in Canada.

The agency, in a statement said, the case is related to a conspiracy hatched by the accused of proscribed terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and others to carry out alleged terrorist acts in India.

The accused used to send funds to India through various MTSS services and hawala channels for developing a network of sympathizers for undertaking targeted killings in Punjab and was trying to arrange weapons, NIA statement said.
