GUJRANWALA: A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) from Gujranwala, Shaheen Raza, passed away on Wednesday.
Raza had reportedly presented symptoms of the novel coronavirus a few days ago.
The legislator was shifted to the isolation ward of Mayo Hospital, Lahore, on Monday and was put on a ventilator after her condition deteriorated.
According to Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner Sohail Ashraf, said Shaheen Raza’s health had deteriorated over the weekend and she succumbed to the disease.
The 60-year-old MPA also suffered from diabetes and blood pressure issues, doctors said.
Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed deep grief and sorrow on her demise, Radio Pakistan reported.
President Arif Alvi prayed for her soul and for the family to be granted the strength to bear the loss.
