Pakistani Officials Stop & Harass Guests At Indian Envoy's Iftar Party

A top Indian diplomat, Ajay Bisaria condemned the act of Pakistani officials in Islamabad, Pakistan. As per sources Guests were stopped and asked to turn away by Pakistani security officials from an Iftar party hosted by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Pakistani officials virtually laid siege party on the Serena hotel, which was the venue of the Iftar party. Media reports claimed that the gates were shut down and many were told that the Iftar party has been cancelled. Talking to the media, Ajay Bisaria expressed regret towards all guests who were mistreated and said, “We apologize to all our guests who were aggressively turned away from our Iftar yesterday.” Referring to the act of turning back hundreds of guests invited at the party, the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan said, “Such intimidatory tactics are deeply disappointing. They not only violate basic norms of diplomatic conduct and civilized behavior, but are also counter-productive for our bilateral relations.”
