CHANDIGARH: Condemning political parties who are trying to create propaganda against the Union Government’s decision to give BSF a radius of 50 Kms, BJP Punjab president Ashwani Sharma castigated the opposition parties for indulging in politics in which Nation and Nationhood was secondary.
The State President said that the incidents of drones, tiffin bombs and drug trafficking had increased immensely and the former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had gone on record repeatedly that Punjab being a border state was being targeted by Pakistan. The Taliban in Afghanistan were no friends of India.
Ashwani Sharma regretted that today Charanjit Singh Channi has gone on record that this decision of the Central government is wrong. “He himself travelled to meet the Prime Minister and Home Minister apprising them of the grave security situation in the state. All Border States have come under this notification as national security was most pivotal to the survival of the country. Politicians should refrain from petty politics,” said Sharma.
He added that the opposition loses moral authority when it makes an issue of national security. Nationhood is the primary concern and not winning elections in the state. “I request these leaders to keep in mind that Punjab has bled enough and has gone through tremendous upheaval. We want peace, harmony and prosperity,” Ashwani Sharma said.
