MOHALI/NAWANSHAHR: The number of confirmed coronavirus/COVID-19 cases in Punjab has reached 23 as two new cases were reported on Monday.
State’s new cases were reported one each fron SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr) and Mohali.
The person reported positive in SBS Nagar is the grandson of the 70-year-old positive victim, who succumbed to the disease last week.
On the other hand, the SAS Nagar’s new case of coronavirus is a close contact of a positive case.
Besides that 183 patients were tested negative for COVID-19 infection.
According to state health department, there are 251 suspected cases of COVID-19 with one death.
23 confirmed cases reported from four districts — 15 from SBS Nagar, five from Mohali, two from Hoshiarpur, one from Amritsar.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Sidhu said Punjab has been on its toes ever to break the chain of transmission since the spread of COVID-19.
The department has been taking series of preventive measures to make sure that the virus does not spread within the community. Intensive screening of foreign return passengers is being done by the front line fighters of Health Department with the help of police and other departments across the state.
