Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI for taking bribe

CHANDIGARH, DECEMBER 3: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at Ghal Khurad Police station, Ferozepur district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000/-.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said ASI Malkiat Singh was arrested on the complaint of Satnam Singh of village Karmuwala, Ferozepur district. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 5,000 to help him in a police case and the deal was struck at Rs. 3,000.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs.3,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
