Record 1-day jump in US Coronavirus cases for third day in a row

NEW YORK:  New cases of the novel coronavirus rose by over 63,000 across the United States, setting a record for the third consecutive day.

The US had a record number of new coronavirus cases in a single day Friday, with 63,900 reported, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

A total of nine US states — Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Ohio, Utah and Wisconsin — also reached records for single-day infections.

Friday’s total eclipsed the previous high reached just a day earlier when 63,247 new coronavirus cases were reported across the country.
