Sensex, Nifty Trades Higher Ahead Of Economic Survey 2018-19

The domestic stock markets edged marginally higher ahead of the Economic Survey presentation later in the day. The S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 87 points in the early trade while the NSE Nifty 50 moved up 11,942. At 9:50 am, the Sensex traded 121.04 points or 0.30% higher at 39,960.29, and the broader Nifty was up 37.45 points or 0.31% at 11.954.20. Trading between 0.86% and 2.31%, Asian paints, Yes Bank, Kotak Bank, Bharti Airtel, and IndusInd Bank were the top gainers on the Sensex pack. On the other side, the top gainers on the Nifty pack were ONGC, UPL, Zee Entertainment, Coal India, Eicher Motors, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Axis Bank, and Tata Steel. In the global markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225 edged up 0.27%, South Korea’s KOSPI was up 0.12%, while the Chinese stock’s Shanghai was down 0.27% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.11%. Meanwhile, the Sensex rose 23 points or 0.06% to close at 39,839 and the 50-scrip Nifty ended 6 points or 0.5% higher at 11,920. (Harleen Sandhu)
