Shots Fired At AAP MLA Naresh Yadav's Vehicle in Delhi, 1 Volunteer Dead

NEW DELHI:  A party volunteer lost his life after some unidentified people opened fire at AAP MLA Naresh Yadav’s convoy in southwest Delhi’s Kishangarh village on late Tuesday night, police said.

Hours after his victory in the Delhi Assembly polls was announced, the newly-elected MLA along with his supporters was returning home after paying obeisance at a temple in his constituency in the night.

Police says the prime suspect in the case has been held.

Ingit Pratap Singh, ADCP (South West), said that the incident happened around 11 p.m.

At least six-seven bullet shells have been found at the crime scene and further investigation is underway, police sources said.

Reacting to the attack, Naresh Yadav said the incident is “unfortunate”.

In a tweet, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh claimed party volunteer Ashok Mann was killed in the attack. While another party volunteer was injured following the attack.

AAP MLA Naresh Yadav won by around 9,000 votes against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Kusum Khatri from Mehrauli assembly seat.
