The Sikh Football Cup, dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, is being organized from November 23 to December 7 in various districts of Punjab.
The event will be organized by Khalsa Football Club (Khalsa FC) and Global Sikh Sports Federation (GSSF).
Selection trails for district-level Keshdari football teams will be conducted in every district from October 29 to November 9.
Khalsa FC President Harjit Singh Grewal gave the information regarding Sikh Football Cup.
Grewal said, “The main purpose of the GSSF is to promote popular sports among Sikhs, including Sikh sports, in keeping with the highest Sikh principles.”
This football cup would be held in all districts of the state from November 23 under the FIFA rules, adds Grewal.
For this Sikh football cup, only keshdari players ageing from 14 to 21 years can participate, told Grewal.
The first match will take place in Amritsar on November 23. After that, the state-level finals and closing ceremony will be held on December 7 at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali).
Meanwhile, Observers for the event have been appointed from various districts of Punjab.
Khalsa FC will also provide sports kits, jerseys and tracks suits as well as allowances, the Khalsa FC Chief said.
Lastly, the winning team will be awarded a cash prize of ₹5 lakh and ₹3 lakh to the runner up.
Additionally, both teams’ coaches will be honoured with cash prizes of ₹ 51,000 and ₹31,000, respectively.
