NEW DELHI: India has reported 20,021 new COVID-19 cases and 279 more deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1,02,07,871 and the death toll to 1,47,901.
As many as 21,131 people recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 97,82,669.
The COVID-19 active caseload remained below 3 lakh for the seventh consecutive day.
The number of active cases in the country stood at 2,77,301, which comprises 2.72 percent of the total caseload, the data stated.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
