Taiwanese-Canadian actor Godfrey Gao has died after collapsing during the filming of a reality television show in eastern China.
He was rushed to hospital where he died around three hours later.
The actor’s Taiwanese agency JetStar Entertainment confirmed the shocking news.
A statement from the network confirmed it was sudden cardiac death.
Godfrey Gao was 35.
Gao was in the middle of a late-night shoot for Zhejiang TV’s reality show “Chase Me”.
The show puts contestants head-to-head in a series of athletic competitions, primarily by running through cities late at night.
Gao first rose to fame as a model. In 2011 Gao became the first Asian model to be signed by luxury brand Louis Vuitton, and he played the role of Magnus Bane in 2013 Hollywood action film “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.”
Born in Taiwan, Gao achieved success in Greater China and beyond.
As per his Canadian connection, Gao grew up in Vancouver, where he was a graduate of Capilano University.

He made his mark in Hollywood, appearing in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, an action film based on a popular series of novels.
His body will be transported Wednesday to Taipei, Taiwan’s capital.
