NEW DELHI: A tractor was set on fire near India Gate to protest organised by Punjab Youth Congress workers against the farm bills.
If the deaf are to hear, the sound has to be very loud: Bhagat Singh. In honour of the memory of Shaheed #BhagatSingh, @IYCPunjab protested against the BJP govt’s apathetic treatment of farmers by lighting a tractor at India Gate. Wake the sleeping govt. We wanted to send a message that the protest should happen at Delhi as the issue is related to central govt and PM modi .The farmers have to occupy India Gate and Parliament to make their voice heard to arrogant Modi. Today’s protest was symbolic and we take responsibility @ndtv pic.twitter.com/xhyapqmoTn— Brinder (@brinderdhillon) September 28, 2020
“Around 15-20 persons gathered here…The fire has been doused and the tractor has been removed. Those involved are being identified,” police said.
Five persons have been detained till now and one vehicle impounded, a police statement said.
On Sunday, President Ram Nath Kovind signed and gave his assent to the three farm bills.
