FLORIDA: The US law enforcement authorities have arrested a 17-year-old Florida resident, accused of being the “mastermind” of the recent hacks at Twitter.
Graham Ivan Clark allegedly convinced a Twitter employee that he worked in Twitter IT department and tricked the employee into giving credentials.
Nineteen-year-old Mason Sheppard from the UK and 22-year-old Nima Fazeli were also charged for their alleged involvement.
Clark faces state charges and will be tried in Hillsborough County because he is a juvenile, federal authorities said. The other two men face federal charges in the Northern District of California.
High-profile accounts of Bill Gates, Barack Obama and many other celebrities with millions of followers were hacked by scammers soliciting Bitcoin.
The attackers posted tweets that appeared to promote a cryptocurrency scam. The fake tweets offered to send $2,000 for every $1,000 sent to a Bitcoin address.
