MUMBAI: Veteran Bollywood actor Jagdeep, father of Jaaved Jaaferi and Naved Jafri, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 81 following age-related health issues.
Jagdeep, who had played the role of ‘Soorma Bhopali’ in Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra-starrer ‘Sholay’, had started his career as a child artist and went on to feature in over 400 films.
The actor, whose real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri was the last of the comic icons alongside seniors Johnny Walker and Mehmood.
The sudden demise of the actor has sent shockwaves among Bollywood celebrities, with many taking it to Twitter, to express their grief.

A family friend and producer Mehmood Ali said that will be laid to rest at a cemetery in south Mumbai around 11.30 am on Thursday.
Jagdeep is survived by sons – actor Jaaved and producer Naved.
