MUMBAI: Veteran Bollywood actress Nimmi aka Nawab Banoo passed away at her Mumbai home on Wednesday evening. She was 88.
Reportedly, Nimmi was suffering from breathing problems and her last rites will take place on Thursday afternoon.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt was among the first to convey condolences.
Bhatt wrote: “You may win your hearts desire, but in the end you are cheated of it by death. Goodbye Nimmiji.”
Rishi Kapoor condoled Nimmi’s demise by writing, “Thank you Nimmi aunty for…the blessings…for Bobby on its premiere…you were part of the RK family.”

Nawab Banoo, made her Bollywood debut in Raj Kapoor’s 1949 release, “Barsaat”, which was Kapoor’s first major hit. The film co-starred Nargis.
Over the next years, the actress worked in films with most top actors, notably the Bollywood Triumvirate of the era — Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand.
