MUMBAI: Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has scored a hat-trick of being India’s most valuable celebrity.
The 31-year-old Indian skipper, who is a modern-day idol for many youngsters, is currently the most popular and valuable among celebrities in India.
According to the celebrity brand valuation report, Virat Kohli’s brand value rose by 39 per cent to $237.5 million in 2019.
In the study titled Celebrity Brand Valuation Study 2019: “New is Gold” which provides a ranking of India’s most powerful celebrities based on brand values derived from their endorsement contracts, the Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli was way ahead of many Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shah Rukh Khan.
Apart from Kohli, the other cricketers in the Top 20 features:
- Sachin Tendulkar at 15th spot with a valuation of $25.1 million
- MS Dhoni in the ninth spot at $41.2 million
- Vice-captain Rohit Sharma at the 20th spot with an overall brand value of $23 million
Duff & Phelps, which prepares the report annually, partnered with Meltwater for the study this time around.
Currently, Virat Kohli is leading Team India in New Zealand in the three-match ODI series.
