Former minister Balbir Sidhu in Punjab on Vigilance’s radar: preparation for investigation of land worth crores, left Congress and joined BJP

Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau can now investigate the assets of former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, who left the Congress and joined the BJP. This investigation can be started on the basis of purchase of land worth crores of rupees in Mohali and Ropar during Sidhu’s tenure as minister. Vigilance can also investigate the property purchased in the name of his wife and son.

Vigilance will also investigate in relation to expensive vehicles purchased in the name of family members of former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu. According to vigilance sources, investigation has also been started into the 70 acres of property bought by Balbir Sidhu’s brother Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu’s company called Land Chester. Even it is being investigated whether any other lands have been encroached upon by them or not.

Balbir Singh Sidhu was not given a place in the cabinet of former CM Charanjit Singh Channi after Captain Amarinder Singh stepped down from the responsibility of CM. After this, he had to face defeat in the assembly elections as well. A few days ago, Balbir Sidhu’s brother Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu also had to lose his membership of the Municipal Corporation. Now Vigilance has started investigation in the disproportionate assets case.
